my god, this woman is amazing. i first heard about her when i was still on my foundation year at Lasalle. her name is Orlan, she’s french. she has this dreams to define what beauty really is. she has gone several surgeries in order to make her face as beautiful as the world had defined. she transformed herself into a work of art, a controversial one i might say. she tried to have the chin of Botticelli’s Venus, the nose of Gerome’s Psyche, the lips of François Boucher Europa, the eyes of Diana from a sixteenth-century French School of Fontainebleu painting and the forehead of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.

Orlan’s goal in these surgeries is to acquire the ideal of beauty as suggested by the men who painted women. -wikipedia

not only this great work of art, she also had done other kinds of art, such as movies, installations, and more. all her works are just so daring, i can only gasp and wow-ing. i’d like to post some of her works here for some preview but it seems impossible for me to copy pictures from her website. so here, i share the link with you. i also put the link under people on this page. enjoy!

have a heart for the sake of your food !

it is a known fact that we need protein and fat from animals such as cows, chickens, and pigs. but it doesn’t mean that they have to be slaughtered for our needs. there are other ways for us to get what we need, a better way. At least take a good care of them before you put them to “sleep”. give them pills, so they won’t feel a thing, give them a proper place to live and food for them to eat for crying out loud !!!

i know it’ll cost us more, but i am willing to pay more for the sake of their feelings ! they are providing me with meet, and protein, and strength and i think they deserve to be treated for respect !!!! and not be slaughtered !!!!!!

and i will not eat meet for the next 30 days as an act of protest !!!

hello world, i ramble !

tell me everyone, what is your first reason in doing good things? is it because it makes you feel good? or is it because you fear that God might be angry with you if you don’t?

i once heard a saying; “fear God for He is the almighty one, for he will punish you for the wrong things you’ve done”. now i think, this is just not right. God is filled with love, and forgiveness. He’s our Father, and will your father do such things to you?

i may not understand Him completely and again, i am not the most holy person in this world, but there are some things i know i’m right and i belive in them completely;
don’t fear God, respect him.
don’t do good because you’re afraid of what God will do to you, but do it because it is what He taught us.
bad things happen to you not because of God, but because you do things not accordingly to Him, it is not a punishment, it is an output of what you have done.

so let’s believe that God is kind and there is nothing about Him that we need to be afraid of. we made sins, and He will always be there waiting for us and guiding us to the righteous path that He had given us.
